Excel - How to add dimension codes to a Edit in Excel Data Source
Issue
The standard Data Source does not include some fields, for example dimension codes Product Group & Category Group Code which are mandatory & you therefore require as part of a document or journal.
Resolution
Some (but not all) Data Sources can be edited to include additional fields on a per-use basis. By following the steps below, you can open the Design function & pull in others fields or even re-order the fields.
Steps
Using a purchase invoice document as example :
- Navigate to the Lines section & move to the 'Share lines with other users or apps.'

- Click 'Edit in Excel'

- Choose 'Open in Excel' vs Save File.

- Click 'Enable Editing'

- Navigate right to section 'Data Connector' & click

- Under 'Data Source', on the line click

- Scroll down 'Available fields' & select as required (note, multi-select with ctrl+click)

- Click

- Click Update
- Click 'Yes' to the warning message

- Click 'Done'
Note, at this point the additional fields will be present but without data

- Click

- Click 'Yes' - Confirm Refresh
- Additional fields now updated with data (if present ).
